Hi guys! How has the infamous interlull been for you, so far? It’s been a miserable two weeks without club football, right? We know. International football games can only do so much.
Thankfully, club football will resume this weekend, and the festive games will soon be upon us.
As you well know, there is no winter break in the Prem. So, the Scout, after hours of intense analysis (lol), has come up with a differential option that should serve your FPL teams well before the busy festive period – Daryl Janmaat.
Let’s take a quick look at why the spotlight is on Janmaat, shall we?
Watford’s Resurgence
The Hornets recorded their first win of the season last gameweek (GW 12). They defeated relegation favourites Norwich who are having a Fulham-esque season.
The manner of the victory points to a resurgence on the cards in the following gameweeks.
New Manager
Javi Garcia was let go after a disastrous start to the season. 1 point out of a possible 12 saw Watford occupy the banter 20th position. A very unfamiliar position for a team that made last season’s FA cup final and finished 11th on the PL log.
Quique Sánchez Flores who managed the club three seasons ago was recalled as Javi Garcia’s replacement.

Fun Fact: In December 2015, both the Premier League Manager and Player of the Month awards were won by Watford personnel; Quique Sánchez Flores and a certain Odion Ighalo 😁.
New Tactics
Of course, with a new manager comes a switch-up in the way the team lines up.
After a formation switch (from 4-2-2-2 to 5-3-2) in gameweek 8, Watford have conceded just 3 goals in 5 games. No other team in the league have recorded more than their 3 clean sheets in that period.
In their first 7 gameweeks, they conceded 20 goals and failed to keep a single clean sheet. Apart from clean sheet points, Daryl Janmaat also offers output at the other end of the pitch too.
MVP
No Watford player has recorded more than his 34 points in the last 5 game weeks. Only goalkeeper Ben Foster (4.8m) has scored the same amount of points in that period.
4 Clean sheets, 1 assist and 7 bonus points make him the most valuable player since Watford’s turn of fortune.
Going Forward
Even though December’s fixtures are somewhat discouraging, Watford’s next two fixtures, (against Burnley and Southampton) have a difficulty rating of 2. Daryl Janmaat should thrive.
Still priced at 4.3m, and having just 1.8% ownership in the game, Janmaat is a differential option the Scout strongly recommends.
Surely, you don’t want to miss out on guaranteed FPL returns.
The Scout’s FPL picks for gameweek 13 is coming soon. Keep your eyes peeled for that. Also, our famous Premier League preview show will return this week. You surely don’t want to miss that for anything 😌.
Stay frosty, folks! Oh and by the way, Happy Birthday OG Ademidun! 🎉
Janmaat’s absence is painful to the heart and to the soul. And I think it was to my favour. Cos, Burnley drubbed them.
Watford’s resurgence cannot be trusted one bit. Ben Foster @ home conceded 3.
Why should I complain about Ben Foster, whereas Gazanigga under the Special One could not keep a clean sheet when 3-0 up against WestHam United.🤦🏾♂️
