Ladies and gentlemen, another FPL season is upon us. If you are an avid player, you are probably wondering about the best attacking options for your FPL team.
If you are new to FPL, you should definitely check out our how to play FPL guide.
To make sure that your team keeps on racking up the points on FPL, the CrossAndNod Scout is here to provide you with premium attacking options for your team.
Best Midfielders for FPL
Are they midfielders? Are they strikers? With the points these guys rack up in FPL, we may never know. Below are our best attacking options for the middle of the park.
Mohammed Salah (Liverpool, £12.5m)
Salah has been the Premier League top scorer for two consecutive seasons. Last term, the Egyptian ended the campaign with 22 goals and 12 assists.
According to Opta, he also attempted a total of 137 shots, the highest of any player in the league. His main competition for goals in the Liverpool team, Sadio Mane should be rested for the opening game against Norwich City due to the part he played in the last AFCON.
Salah is also on penalty duties with James Milner (who is no longer a guaranteed starter). This makes him one of the best attacking options for FPL.
Priced at a whopping £12.5m, Salah is worth every penny. Salah being in your team is a no-brainer. A lot of people will have him in theirs and if you don’t, prepare to be left behind when he performs.
Raheem Sterling (Manchester City, £12.0m)
No Manchester City player has made more goal contributions than Sterling in the last two seasons (18 goals & 17 assists in 2017/2018 and 17 goals & 15 assists in 2018/2019).
This term, he is shaping up to be their most crucial contributor again. He already scored in their Community Shield win against Liverpool.
Adding to the fact that he is one of the most-immune players to Pep Guardiola’s notorious rotation, Aguero missed most of preseason. And Gabriel Jesus is not fit as of yet.
Sterling is undoubtedly the biggest attacking threat that City have in their locker for these opening Premier League fixtures.
You can trust him to deliver, and managers who spend the £12m on him will reap immense benefits.
Bernardo Silva (Manchester City, £8.0m)
Last season was Bernardo Silva’s best in a City shirt. He adapted his game to play more centrally in midfield, and he was rewarded with minutes by his notorious gaffer.
He played 2853 Premier League minutes for City last season, 3rd highest after Ederson (3420) and Laporte (3057). His impressive work rate and drives from deep have made him indispensable to Guardiola’s side.
Last term he was City’s third-best creator-in-chief finishing the season with ten big chances created. Six behind David Silva (16) and two behind Sterling (12).
Sane’s injury means his minutes won’t be affected by DeBruyne’s return to action. He’ll start all the games and play a more forward role.
This is why he is part of our best attacking options for FPL. His teammate Laporte is also on our list of best defensive options for FPL.
A return of 7 goals and 8 assists last term will definitely be improved upon. And at just £8m, he offers a bargain route to tap from City’s impressive FPL return as a team.
Ryan Fraser (Bournemouth, 7.5m)
Last season was Ryan Fraser’s breakout season. I mean anyone who took notice of his underlying stats the previous season won’t have been surprised.
But most people fully noticed the prowess of this 25-year-old Bournemouth forward last year. His dashing runs down the Bournemouth flanks and his link-up with Callum Wilson was an absolute joy to watch.
He backed up his impressive performances with numbers – 7 goals and 14 assists (only one less than league-high Eden Hazard who had 15 assists).
His stats last season – 28 big chances created (highest in the league), and 271 crosses (second highest after Lucas Digne with 280) means he’s destined for another excellent FPL return this term.
If you’re looking for a non-premium midfielder with modest returns, Ryan Fraser is one of the best attacking options for FPL.
Sadio Mané (Liverpool, 11.5m)
Sadio Mané has been one of the most prolific midfielders in the game even while he was at Southampton. It all came to a head last season when he co-bagged the Premier League golden boot.
It had been coming if you ask me. How Klopp has elected to set up his team to play has been immeasurably favourable to this Senegalese forward.
His powerful runs and exquisite finishing wreaked havoc on Premier League back lines last season. He finished the season with 22 goals and 3 assists.
The only snag about Mané is that he played deep into AFCON where Senegal came second, and he only just got back to training this week. Whether or not he’ll feature in Liverpool’s opening game against Newcastle is yet to be determined.
Priced at £11m, he’s a less expensive and less wasteful route into Liverpool’s explosive forward line. Laughs in Salah!
Best Strikers for FPL
Club legends. Big Men. Shy Men. One thing is certain. You are going to get goals. Lots of goals.
Harry Kane (Tottenham, 11.0m)
Last season was the first time in four seasons Harry Kane failed to score up to 20 Premier League goals. Injuries and the output of a certain Heung-Min Son have contributed to Tottenham relying less and less on their star man for goals.
He still is a top buy anyway. His return of 17 goals and 6 assists last season is not to be trifled with nor looked down on.
He has looked sharp throughout preseason, and he will be looking to hit the ground running this year. What better game to do that than in a home fixture against Aston Villa?
What’s more? He broke his August curse last year and having Kane in your team from the beginning of the season this year is not such a bad idea like it once was.
Callum Wilson (Bournemouth, 8.0m)
Before, it was Vardy. But now Callum Wilson has become the best of the rest when it comes to strikers outside of the top six teams in the Premier League.
He overcame his recurring injury problems the previous season to return 14 goals and 9 assists last term.
His partnership with Fraser has been electrifying. And that is expected to continue this term.
Bournemouth have one of the easiest opening fixtures. So if you’re looking for a budget forward, Wilson is your guy.
Aubameyang (Arsenal, 11.0m)
Top, top goal scorer! He started slowly last season which made people doubt his abilities but he rallied in October and turned out to be the league’s top scorer.
A return of 22 goals and 7 assists by this man must not be ignored if you want to succeed as an FPL manager this season.
Moreover, with their new signings, Unai Emery’s side should be more attacking this season. And guess who is the tip of the spear at Arsenal?
Aubameyang is the team’s penalty taker, and a healthy FPL return to justify his £11m can be expected from this man.
Sergio Aguero (Manchester City, 12.0m)
If you’re looking for an FPL player you don’t have to remove or substitute from your team throughout the season, Aguero is your guy. Regardless of the opposition, this man will deliver.
Joint most goal contributor for Man City last season with Sterling (32), he registered 21 goals and 11 assists most of which came in the games against the top six.
With at least 20 goals in the last 5 seasons, ignore this man at your peril.
Raúl Jiménez (Wolverhampton Wanderers, 7.5m)
A striker named Raúl? You know what to do. He took the Premier League by storm last year with 13 goals 7 assists. And this season is looking no different.
He has netted 4 goals in 3 games in the Europa League already, and he’s proving to be the Alpha Wolf of the Wolverhampton team.
Coming in at just £7.5m, he is a budget option you should not let pass you by this season.
